Plate waste study - The hospital was in the process of converting the current continental-style breakfast cart to a cook-chill breakfast system. I analyzed the amount of waste with the current system to provide management with some data to help determine whether the planned switch would prove to be cost-effective.
Patient Satisfaction Survey - This project correlated with my plate waste study as it examined the effectiveness of the current breakfast system. I interviewed several patients on their view of the current system and what changes they hoped to see.
Performance improvement plan - The clinical nutrition manager asked me to examine the current methods for preparing a protein supplement would for wound healing. Patients were currently not receiving the supplement regularly which was not acceptable for patient services. As a culmination of this project, I wrote a policy and procedure for the department regarding preparation of the Juven supplements.
Workflow - As the department was preparing for a complete change in production with the impending start of the cook-chill system, I had the opportunity to assist in writing workflows for the new positions.
